The Center for educational research formation (CIFE) was created in response to a growing concern in the University to make a critical analysis of its own teaching practices, and to put its own educational actions and scientific production to the service of school education and pedagogy at all levels in public and private institutions. CIFEs mission is to foster improvements in education and research in education in the University and in Colombia. The following objectives have been proposed for this purpose:

1. Production and dissemination of knowledge in education.

2. Formation of individuals who from research projects or form the classroom and school management, intervene, investigate or innovate in education.

3. Advisory services, complement and appraisal of educational actions of different kinds.

4. The establishment of bridges of communication, coordination and actions between the various units in the University interested in education.

In pursuit of this mission, CIFE manages the masters program in education, and a number of research and intervention projects in education within the University, in public and private schools in Bogotá and in the rest of Colombia.
