As part of the extension mode of study, regular undergraduate or graduate courses given by the University may be presented, but no degree will be awarded. This may be done by the following people:
- Professionals who wish to update an specific area of knowledge. - Professionals who wish to enter graduate programs and need to take free-requisite courses, or to take such courses as part of the upgrading courses to begin the program in which they are enrolled. - Foreign students living outside the country who come to the University on an exchange program, or on their own. - Colombian or foreign students who have obtained high school graduation outside Colombia, and have not yet presented the ICFES examination. These students may take extension courses for a maximum of two semesters, while preparing to seat ICFES for the regular admissions process. Extension courses will be validated within the program which they entered, but the average obtained in them will not be taken into account unless requested prior to matriculation as a regular student in the records office. - Aspiring candidates who make an application to the University and are not admitted, may take extension courses for a maximum of two semesters until they have sat the ICFES again and obtained a better score which will allow them to make a new application for regular admission. As in the two previous cases, if the student is admitted, the courses taken by extension will be validated once the student enters the academic program. - Enrollments will be effected on working days prior to the beginning of the semester in January and August. The exact dates will be confirmed with the Admissions and Records Office, contacting the switch board (57-1) 3394949, Ext. 2210 and 2212. Students may obtain matriculation receipts one week after enrolling, and have about two weeks to pay for their studies subsequently.
In any event, a student enrolling in a regular course on the basis of extension studies must meet the academic pre-requisites and co-requisites for each course, unless the course lecturer authorizes otherwise.
Regular university students who have been suspended for any reason laid down in the Regulations may not take extension courses.
A member of the teaching staff may not receive a student in his classes if the student does not belong to any regular program or is not enrolled in the extension program.
