Colombian or foreign students who have completed at least two semesters in another university in Colombia or abroad, may request transmission by external transfer.

To complete an application for external transfer, the candidate should present the form which could be obtained from the university at the information point, and in the admissions and records office- Edificio Pedro Navas- on the first and second floors respectively. The form can also be obtained off the internet, by visiting the address http://registro.uniandes.edu.co/formulario-trans.htm.

Forms must be completed between the second weeks of September and October, and for entry in August, they must be completed between the second weeks of April and May. Students for external transfer must also supply the following documents with their application form:

- Complete certificates of marks, with original signatures and stamps of all studies at the university of origin, at least two semesters. All subjects taken must be included, regardless of whether they were passed or not. If the student has ceased to study for some period, an explanation should be given of the reasons, and the time in which no studies were taken should be certified.
- A photocopy of the results of the ICFES exam presented, if any, if the candidate has completed high school studies in Colombia.
- A letter explaining the reasons why the candidate wishes to enter Universidad de Los Andes, and the reasons why he is not going to continue at the university of origin.
- Main address and telephone number of two members of the teaching staff for university courses taken.
- Certificates issued by the university of origin, confirming that the candidate is matriculated, or that he withdrew voluntarily.
- Detailed description of the content of each course, with original signatures and stamps.

The Admissions Department will mail a reply on or after the 1st of November for requests for transfers made in September- October, or on or after the 1st of June for transfers requested in April-May.

Students accepted must present a language classification examination. The examination is set in November for students who will enter in January and in June for students to enter in August. Information on the exact dates of these examinations may be obtained from the Department of Languages and Socio-cultural studies, on EXT. 3241, 2583 and 2543- on the main switchboard (57-1) 3394949, or writing to the following electronic addresses:

Registrations must be effected between the first week of November and the first week of December to start in January, and from the first week of June to the first week of July to start in August. At the time of matriculation, the student must provide two identical passport-sized color photographs, with a light background, and the original high school graduation diploma, or a certified copy of the same.

If it is shown that the information provided is not true, the admission will be annulled. Forms which do not have complete documentation will not be considered.

A student wishing to register through the internet must attach the documentation described above to the form. This may be sent to fax (57-1) 3324469, or by mail, or may be brought personally on the dates established for transfer admissions.
