One of the main characteristics of the University is the flexibility of the academic curriculums. This is reflected in the fact that its students can combine academic programs: The study plan of each of our programs allows students to select courses every semester, so that they can adopt a study plan to meet their particular needs and interests.
Almost 30% of subjects in most of our academic programs are elective and the remainder are mandatory. This makes it easier for students to develop an interest in subjects outside those of their program, and to take advantage of opportunities for formation such as the ´double program´, the ´academic options´, the Complementary Plan and the ´Coterminal or joint program.
Each of our curricular contains three sets of subjects:
- The mandatory professional subjects, which are what the experts consider any professional ought to know about his discipline. They are therefore an essential core of knowledge.
- The element of subjects which allow students to select a particular aspect of their area, for deeper study.
- The set of courses which allows students to complement formation with other disciplines, following their own particular interests.
At the same time, the system of credits which we use for calculating averages and evaluating the students´ progress implies that a study plan is completed by courses or subjects -not by semesters or years- and this allows each students to organise work based on what the university offers, and their particular interests. |
