Research and Creation committee
The purpose of the research and creation committee of the faculty, created in 1997, is to promote research in the areas represented in the faculty, and to encourage artistic creation. Both these water slopes correspond to the principal developments in the fields of arts and humanities, and are focal points in academic and artistic formation of faculty students.

The recognition of artistic creation as one to the activities proper to the academic world, as an area and as an independent area of knowledge, is crucial to the definition of a faculty in which creation and academic reflection converge with their many different points in view.

The purpose of the research and creation committee is to disseminate such work and the publication of books, the production of CD’s and the presentation of exhibitions, are all very important activities. We have had considerable successes in this field.

The Faculty contains 40 full-term teaching staff, engaged in teaching and research. They are at work in the most innovative creations in art and music, incorporating high technology into their research work. There is also the best multimedia creation room in Latin America, highly specialized for the development the diploma in multimedia creation and the art program. The music department has the MIDI laboratory and the electro-acoustic studio, which is the most specialized of its kind in Colombia.

The projects of the department of Literature produced conventional hypothesis to enrich knowledge, and creation also had a place and important part on this activity.

Research Groups
Traditionally, the faculty of arts and humanities have been characterized by the individual execution of research work. Today however, research groups have been formed on topics of common interest. The high quality of the projects has become evident in publications, exhibitions, concerts, and the production of recordings.

Laboratory Services
In 1989, a multimedia specialized laboratory was produced for audiovisual and interactive projects. The laboratory, known as the Virtual Wood, has 36 Macintosh Power PC G4, with programs such as Macromedia, Adobe, and NewTek. They are used for academic work and artistic projects in experimentation and research, and workshops or classes for a diploma on electronic media and for the area of electronic media and time arts are developed for students of art and other programs. The research workshop is opened 24 hours a day, and receives a number of proposals from teaching staff and students who are working on their final paper for the art degree.

The Music Department has two specialized laboratories: MIDI, and the electro-acoustic studio. MIDI has equipment for application of communications protocols between electronic instruments and computers, which is very useful for the electronic editing of scores- composition, orchestration arrangements, recording, digital editing, and transmission of music by internet- and for support the development of basic abilities in the MIDI studio, seeking to explore new elements of the conceptions of science applicable to the creation, production and recording of sound tracks.

ECI- ELAC, electro-acoustic studio concentrates on electro-acoustic composition, and projects itself as an important instance of research for specialist composers in this area. It also has advanced-technology equipment and programs to offer students a high-level formation in a context in contemporary esthetics and concepts.
