Summer School 2001

The Summer School 2001, “Geometrical and Topological Methods in Field Theory”, was held in Villa de Leyva between 9 and 27 July in 2001. This form is part of a long-term cooperation project between University and France, through the University of Blaise Pascal (Clairmont-Ferrand.)

The Summer School 2001 was attended by 51 academics, and there was an even balance in the presentations in the area of physics and mathematics. The main lecturers were physicist J. Bellisard (France), M. Marino (USA), S. Theisen (Germany), and J. Zanelly (Chile); and the mathematicians were M. Benameur (France), C. Blanchet (France), J. Varilly (Costa Rica) and T. Wurzbacher (France).

The course was attended by students from the Ukraine, Brazil, Rumania and Colombia, who are currently taking courses in the University, and in Universidad Nacional, Universidad del Valle, and Universidad de Antioquia, as well as Universities in the United States, France, and Germany.

The summer school 2001 generated important scientific activity, and there were lectures on recent results and research topics. The students of masters and doctorate programs were also able to present their work.
